Buying
Never bought with us before? Never bought at auction before?
We're here to help!
Auctions can be an exciting experience, whether you are searching for rare and interesting items, or looking for a bargain. At Beeston Auctions we’ll do our best to make your experience as enjoyable, rewarding and smooth as possible.
Catalogues & Viewing Days
Our catalogues go online a week before sale day. Check our Catalogues page to browse all available catalogues for upcoming auctions. We provide a full description and image of each lot as well as a rough estimate of its expected value. If you wish to enquire further specific details about a lot, you can request a Condition Report. Just email us or send us a message via the link on each lot and we will compile a report and get back to you with any details or images as requested. Full catalogues are also available through our bidding platforms (see details below).
We have Viewing Days for all of our auctions. Usually, these are Monday and Tuesday (10am-4pm) prior to the sale day. You can check the specific viewing dates for each auction on its catalogue page. On these days you can come along to our Beeston premises and view our entire auction room with each lot laid out. We have on-site parking available and friendly staff on hand to answer any questions. Check out This Map to find us in Beeston, Norfolk.
Bidding Live in our Auction Room
- Have a good look at the items you wish to bid on, either on the morning of the sale or at one of our viewing days. Satisfy yourself with the item’s condition, authenticity, suitability etc. Just ask for advice if you need it.
- On sale day collect your bidding number from reception. If it is your first time bidding with us we will get you to fill out a quick registration form – this can be done beforehand over the phone or in person as well.
- Decide what the maximum is you wish to bid up to. Don’t forget that on top of the hammer price you will have to pay commission at 20% plus VAT on the commission. (This equates to 24% of the hammer price).
- When a lot you wish to bid on is about to be sold, make sure the auctioneer can clearly see you and raise your bidder card to let him know you are bidding.
- If successful, show the auctioneer your bidder number card.
- Pay at our Pay Office behind reception. You will be given a Porter’s Ticket. Take this through to the auction room where a porter will be available to locate your items and sign your paperwork.
Simple! – Get in touch or ask a member of staff if you’ve any additional questions about bidding from the room.
Leave Commission Bids with Us
If you’re unable to attend the auction on sale day you can leave your bids with us prior to the auction and our auctioneer will execute the bids on your behalf. You may then pay for and collect and won items after the sale has finished.
You can trust us to execute your bids faithfully and in goodwill, we have many buyers who regularly bid with us this way and have garnered a trusted relationship with our bidders.
Bidding Online
If you can’t attend our auction room for sale day but would still like to bid along live for the full sale we offer live online bidding. All of our auctions are hosted on our website, once you have created an account you will be able to view our upcoming catalouges and leave bids ahead of the auction. Additionally, all of our auctions are available on two online bidding platforms: easyliveauction.com and the-saleroom.com. All offer online bidding via a desktop machine or mobile device.
Phone Bidding
If you’re unable to attend one of our auctions but have a few specific lots you wish to bid on, then we can offer a phone bidding service. We will arrange for one of our members of staff to bid on your behalf over the phone. We will ring you several lots in advance to ensure a secure line. Get in contact with us before sale day to arrange a phone bid.
We are only able to offer a limited amount of availability due to staff needed to operate so have to offer the service on a first come – first served basis. Once you know you wish to bid via phone, get in touch with us as soon as possible to ensure availability.
What are the Costs?
We charge 20% +VAT buyers commission on all sold lots. The final price that you pay will be the total hammer price of all the items you bought plus this commission charge.
If you are bidding online this will incur an additional fee as charged by the bidding platform you choose to use. If bidding online make sure to check the terms of the service/website you are using. If in doubt get in touch and we can help you find out.
