US M1C airborne/paratrooper helmet body with M1 infantry liner, used in the Vietnam War. The shell is coated in rough texture camouflage paint. On the right side is the emblem of Military Assistance Command Vietnam (MACV) and on the left side is the emblem of the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). The shell is made by McCord or Ingersoll c.1960s. The liner is made by Micarta c1965 and is stamped M14. The helmet is complete with body para chinstrap, liner and headband. On the front of the liner is a painting of actress Mae West with a member of the Viet Cong between her breasts, under the slogan “Cong Crusher”. The liner also bears the MACV and 1st Cavalry Division emblems on its sides. Vendor advises that the helmet was displayed in an officers’ mess in a USAF base in East Anglia.
