A British MkI steel helmet stamped FKS48, with 1939 liner and chinstrap. Field applied roughened khaki paint. This is a First World War steel helmet reconditioned for use in 1939. Labelled I. S. Bower No. 531033, Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD), Tidworth House, Hampshire. Inscribed under brim 'I S Bower 531033 Dorset 62'. With oval pad. During the Second World War Tidworth House was a club for US soldiers. In excellent condition, one of many being sold from a private collection.
